A Post For You Only

This isn’t your first post, but it marks the beginning of something new. A new way of expressing yourself, getting through the day, possibly a whole new lifestyle. Throughout this journey, you will learn that your words are powerful. The words you choose to speak will open doors, while the words you write will bring others along. The goal has always been to create something you love and share it with those around you, because it’s through sharing that we build a community and connect with others.

This is something you’ve yearned for but ultimately avoided for various reasons. Was it that you were trying to remain humble? Making sure they don’t think you want attention? Or that they may all disagree with your delivery and think you were bragging. It was something in that order, but what you failed to consider was that by showing others, you also show them how to do it. There is no need to shrink yourself for one to understand you or what you do. What’s needed is faith in your mission and the patience to share your story; It’s okay if it’s self-motivated. Who you are is something to cherish and document, as it will inspire someone else later. Not only should you write yourself into history, but you should enjoy the world while you’re a part of it. Don’t deprive yourself of love and community in the name of submission; Submission to everyone else’s needs, fears, worries. You aren’t saving anyone by being silent, not even yourself.

Where will you find yourself if you never say anything? How far will you go if you always hide your true potential? Eventually, you’ll end up hiding from yourself without realizing it, losing track of what keeps you going as you try to perfect it so others can understand. You’ll never find your true community if you are constantly performing. Sharing something you love isn’t about perfection; it’s about vulnerability and exploration. You get to experience new emotions and people while they get to explore different parts of who you are; vice versa. Once you release the beauty you’ve created, you return with new confidence, new abilities, and possibly a new creative outlet.

After our environment, our community plays a strong role in our creativity. Nowadays, a community doesn’t have to be as intimate, thanks to social media’s constant intrusion. But don’t confuse the two. Overindulgence cannot replace true intimacy. On this day, intimacy means sharing what you love online, even if it’s scary, not creating the perfect post to woo the crowd. What you want to accomplish is to preserve yourself while still making an impact on the world around you.

It has taken time to reach this conclusion because the food industry is deeply self-sacrificing. Standing on your feet till your knees lock, pushing as many plates per hour as you can. It’s grueling mainly, though, because of the American idea that food should come out fast and be comforting. They want you to think that enjoying a meal shouldn’t take time, and that you should spend your time on “productivity”. This is all a ploy to take you away from the things you love most. We lose our sense of individualism because capitalism has led us to believe that time is a luxury, leaving us with too little time to prepare a nutritious meal for ourselves. One right we all have is to our rituals. Your ritual is setting aside time to create nourishing, comforting meals and being patient with each step so they suit your taste. Life is all about finding what will keep you going, and a strong community is always one of those things. After that is the work you live for.

Create something before you go; we all deserve it.
